Help with Search PDF Print E-mail

There are several ways to search this website for information. Because our content includes bear groups, bars and clubs, events, user profiles and various articles, we have a general search that covers everything plus more specialized searches to help you find exactly what you are looking for.

General Search

Every page has access to the general search. It's the text field just below the top menu that says "Search...". All you need to to is type a word or phrase and press ENTER. The search results will appear, along with some options to help you narrow down your search.

On the search page, you have three options to choose from. All Words will return resullts where every word is in the result, Any Word will return all results where any of the words appear in the results. This is a much larger result set. Exact Phrase will return only results that contain that exact phrase including spacing and punctuation.

You can also return the results based on the date (Oldest First or Newest First), on popularity, by alphabetical title, or by category

You can also choose how many search results you want to appear on a page.

Profile Search

Wen you click on the "Who's Online?" link, you get a list of users ordered by most recent log-in. But you can click the "Search Users" link and narrow down your search.

You can search based on username, interests, city, state or zip code. We are working on improving this search to include a radius search based on zip code.

List Search

When you see a list of items, you will often see a field labeled 'Title Filter". Use this field to search for a specific item you are looking for.

Event Search

There are two ways to search for events.

When you go to the Events Calendar, you can click on the "search" button and type keywords in the search field and press the "Search" button. You can also include past events in your search results. This will search both the title and the content of the event.

You can also filter events by category by clicking the "See by Category" button. This will display all the events by day, but you can then choose the category (location) from the drop down menu, and it will display only events in that location. The categories are heirarchical and you can search based on country, state or city. Events that are associiated with a city will also appear in the state and country results.
